Jean-François Copé, President of the UMP party, is having a “working visit” in the United States and  in Canada from December 2nd toDecember 7th. He will meet with Stephen Harper, Canadian PrimeMinister, as well as meetings at the White House, says UMP in a press release.

Monday and Tuesday, Jean-François Copé is expected in Washington toattend meeting at the State Department as well as the US House ofRepresentatives. On Monday evening, he joined the Huston Institute fortwo conferences before going to Princeton University on Wednesday, inNew York. The focus is the position of Europe in the world and the position of France in Europe. A conference with UMP militants is on his agenda in New York.

The president of the main opposing party will then go to Canada, in Ottawaon Thursday. Besides his meeting with Mr. Harper, he is also meeting with several Secretaries (Economy, Employment, Immigration…), University Professors and journalists. The day after, he will have lunch with UMPmilitants in Ottawa and, on Saturday, in Montreal, as well as meeting withthe French community. Planned in the agenda is a discussion with the mayor, Denis Coderre.
