LA Phil is introducing a very exciting concert coming up in just a few weeks, titled Saint-Saëns & Mendelssohnon Thursday, April 21st through Sunday, April 24th.

The  pianist from Uzbekistan, Behzod Abduraimov, performs our beloved French composer, Saint-Saëns’ most popular concerto.

Camille Saint-Saëns was many things. A scholar and writer of wide-ranging interests and an equally wide-ranging traveler, he was also a multifaceted musician who excelled as a keyboardist, conductor, teacher, and editor. All of that fed into his work as a highly engaged and engaging composer. He wrote his conceptually innovative and technically genius virtuosic Second Piano Concerto in 17 days in 1868, and played the premiere with Anton Rubinstein making his Paris conducting debut.
