The term ‘Diversity of Thought’ coined by Deloitte occurs when different types of thinkers: strategic; detail-oriented; and creative, come together at a higher level to work together. Diversity of thought between various people at a workplace is the result of different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.
Deloitte believes that bringing together these three types of thinkers in a single workplace generates innovation and collaboration while resulting in the disruption of obsolete practices, ideals, and organizational charts. In other words, Deloitte believes that a successful company is one that comprises a mix of human beings with different abilities and ways of thinking.
As a matter of fact, there is proof that if companies hired more women to top leadership positions such as senior executive or board member positions, most of them would increase the company’s net income by 15%. Women have a sensitivity and sense of intuition that most men lack, and hiring a larger number of women endows the company with an asset that is necessary for the success of a company.
Deloitte’s ‘Diversity of Thought’ is a great step forward to a more inclusive workplace, and typically to a higher number of women leaders and entrepreneurs. The future of the workplace lies in the diversity of the workforce and leadership team. Hopefully, Deloitte’s ‘Diversity of Thought’ will encourage more companies to hire women in the future!
